Church Mouse - July 2008

Hi folks,

Florida is not the only hot spot this summer! People from the Northeastern states are coming here to cool off.

Even the heat didn't keep you all away on Sunday, the 8th, when we had another fabulous potluck followed by a fun evening of trying to discover our spiritual gifts. Pastors Paul and Nancy assured us that each of us does possess at least one of these gifts and some may be blessed with several. They quoted from 1 Corinthians 12:4-7; "Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good."

I watched as each person was given a Spiritual Gift Assessment sheet to complete to determine just what their gifts might be. It was incredible how accurate this assessment turned out. Paul Simkins’ gift was Teaching, Davina's was Shepherding, Berthlin's was Mercy, all so true of what this little mouse has observed as I follow them around. They are all so busy, it is hard to keep up and not get stepped on!

It will be interesting to see how God will put these gifts into action now that you all are more aware of them. I answered the 90 assessments and found my gift to be Helps and from now on, I am going to be more helpful cleaning up the crumbs from your potlucks!
