Beginning in January 2012, The Central Florida Presbytery Leadership Academy will kick off a year of monthly classes for layleaders who want deepen their faith and broaden their understanding of the Bible, Theology, and Discipleship. The Central Florida Presbytery developed the Leadership Academy out of a desire from Elders, Deacons, Christian Educators, Commissioned Lay Pastors, and other church leaders to have the opportunity for deeper learning experiences in order to be better equipped leaders.

The Leadership Academy courses will begin on the first day of the month. Students will be asked to do some reading in preparation for the class gathering which will be on the second Saturday of the month (see the schedule below). During the class, instructors will lecture and offer opportunities for small group discussion on their topics. Students will also have the opportunity to ask questions. After the class meets, participants will be asked to do a project in their home church using the knowledge they have gained in the class. There will be four sites throughout the Presbytery where students can participate in the class. The locations are: First Presbyterian, Mt. Dora; Grace Covenant Presbyterian, Orlando; Port Orange Presbyterian; and First Presbyterian, Vero Beach. The instructor will be teaching “live” at one of the sites and will be “piped in” via Skype to the other locations. The cost per each class is $25.00.
