Thank you to the Theta Chi Fraternity from UCF
We want to say thank you to the great hard working group from the Theta Chi fraternity. Your hard work over the last couple years has made quite a difference around the church. You are awesome young men who are willing to pitch in and help, even if it means a lot of sweat, plenty of stickers tearing at your skin, and the hot sun.
You have great futures ahead of you.
Once again, thank you!

Church Mouse - July 2009
Hi my OPC friends,
I have to say that I never get bored here in your kitchen. Detta is a constant fixture here, preparing tasty treats and coffee for our Sunday crowd for between services or joining with Janet, Pete, Cassie and others getting the food ready to be transported to the homeless once a month. I hear that this food is purchased for this homeless mission with monies that Detta, Janet and others get as tips while busing tables at CiCi’s two nights a month. I have to really scurry fast, in and out from under the refrigerator, to keep out from under foot. They could use some more volunteers to help prepare food, bus tables, etc, so please pray about this as you will be blessed working with these dedicated members of your congregation who have hearts for the needy.
July 2009 Pastor's Ponderings

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I recently conducted a funeral for a young man whose body was found high in the mountains after a winter storm. His name was David, and he was very much in love with the wonder of nature and life. He had a master’s degree in botany and had explored deep into the Florida swamps and wilderness. After leaving home ten years ago, he made his way westward and eventually to the mountains of Utah.
Eagle Scout Project from Troop 672
Congratulations to Vernon Weinhart
His Eagle Scout project was bringing the historic Geneva Cemetery's pump house up to historical standards.
Included among the graves at the cemetary are 17 civil war soldiers including Lewis Thornton Powell who was hanged for his involvement in the assassination of President Lincoln.

Church Mouse - June 2009
Hello to All My Friends in Christ,
A "Soup and Salad Buffet" dinner was held on May 16th, and we took time to honor the "Mothers" in the group. A poem was given out thanking them for being a Christian and showing us how to be; saying that we'll follow their example for all eternity.
January 2009 Pastor's Ponderings
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Someone once likened the passing of years when you are a child to passing telephone poles as you walk alongside a highway, riding past them on a bicycle as a teenager, driving past them in a car as an adult, and finally passing by in the blur of speeding past the posts of a picket fence.
June 2009 Pastor's Ponderings
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
A friend of mine used to joke that he was studying to become a teacher for three good reasons: June, July, and August. While the truth is that he is an excellent teacher who truly cares for his students, the old joke about June, July, and August is funny because we all like the idea of having the time off. I also don’t know any teachers who actually take all that time “off.”
