Gone to Meddling

March 6, 2022

Jesus said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water
and let down your nets for a catch.” Simon answered,
“Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing.
Yet if you say so, I will let down the nets.”

from Luke 5:4-5

.

Scripture Luke 5:1-11

Do we dare to trust Jesus enough to let him direct our lives in areas where we think we know what to do?

Contagious

February 27, 2022

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive
my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”

Forgiveness is something we need for ourselves but are sometimes are slow to give. If we are mindful of the cost of God forgiving our sins, forgiving others becomes possible.

Careful What You Ask

With Jesus

February 13, 2022

“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

from Luke 4:42-43

.

Scripture Luke Matthew 11:25-25

We often exhaust ourselves in pursuits and practices for which we were never intended. True rest, peace, and meaning are found once we "yoke" ourselves with Jesus.

(Note: Pastor Paul has contracted a breakthrough case of COVID. This sermon is part of a service that was broadcast early in the pandemic on July 5, 2020.)

Light on the Path

for I was sent for this purpose.”

from Luke 4:42-43

.

Scripture Luke 4:31-44

Where do we look for guidance and wisdom to make decisions? Many choices appear good to us that are actually diversions from the path of following Jesus.

We are invited to see beyond the things that seem so urgent to discover God's presence in our midst.
